Your 1834 Vermont Farmhouse Retreat on 11 Private Acres

Picture this: you're settling into an Adirondack chair by our crackling fire pit, your dog sprawled contentedly in the grass beside you, watching the sun set over our 11 acres of Vermont meadows and forest. No neighbors in sight, just the gentle sounds of evening settling over the Green Mountains.

Welcome to Meadow's End Farm - our 1834 farmhouse that gets the Vermont getaway formula exactly right. Nestled at the end of a quiet dirt road in Chester, this isn't your typical rental property. Our home is a place where wide-plank floors tell stories, 12-over-12 original windows frame mountain views, and authentic Vermont farmhouse character welcomes you at every turn.

What you'll discover at our farm:

  • Historic farmhouse character with modern conveniences (hello, Wolf range and wine fridge)
  • 11 private acres with meadows, forest, and a small pond to explore
  • Screened porch perfect for morning coffee and evening wine
  • Four bedrooms sleeping up to 8 guests, plus your four-legged family members
  • Minutes from Chester's charming downtown and 20-30 minutes from four ski mountains (Okemo, Stratton, Magic, and Bromley)

Our Farmhouse That Feels Like Home

Here's what sets our Meadow's End Farm apart: we're not a sterile vacation rental trying to be all things to all people. We're an authentic 1834 farmhouse that embraces its history - uneven floors, exposed ceiling beams, and all. We spent over 20 years visiting this area before finding our dream property, and that love shows in every thoughtful detail.

Our gourmet kitchen centers around a Wolf oven and range, with a wine fridge for those newly discovered local vintages, and enough counter space for the whole group to help with dinner. Our dining room comfortably seats 10, making it perfect for those extended family gatherings or friend group reunions that actually happen here instead of just being talked about.

Modern touches blend seamlessly with period character. High-speed wifi keeps you connected when needed, while Firestick-equipped TVs in three rooms ensure everyone has their entertainment options. But the real entertainment happens around our fire pit, on our screened porch, or exploring those 11 acres that your dog is going to absolutely love.

Your Private Vermont Playground

What really makes our property special is the land itself. The original Meadow's End Farm likely encompassed most of this road with working farmland. Today, you get our 11 acres of lawn, meadows, forest, and that small pond - essentially your own private Vermont playground.

Winter brings sledding right on our property, plus snowshoeing and cross-country skiing opportunities. Summer means hiking trails, both on our property and nearby, with fishing and kayaking options just minutes away. Fall? You're perfectly positioned for peak foliage season, with mountain views framing every window.

Our screened porch becomes your seasonal living room - cool and breezy in summer, cozy with the gas fireplace during Vermont's crisp spring and fall evenings. There's a hammock tucked under a tree for afternoon naps, and enough outdoor seating around our fire pit for everyone to find their spot.

Chester & Beyond: Your Vermont Home Base

Chester itself earned recognition as one of Vermont's most charming towns (it's literally been used as a backdrop for Hallmark movies), and you're just 10 minutes from the historic downtown. The Vermont Country Store, SoLo Farm & Table restaurant, and local art galleries provide plenty of rainy day options.

But here's the strategic advantage: you're positioned perfectly for day trips to Grafton, Woodstock, and Manchester, with four ski mountains within a 30-minute drive. Okemo, Stratton, Bromley, and Magic Mountains all become easily accessible for winter adventures, while summer brings hiking, antiquing, and those maple syrup farm tours you've been promising to do.

The Honest Details

Let's be clear about what you're getting: our farmhouse is nearly 200 years old, complete with the character that comes with age. Floors aren't perfectly level, and there are quirks that come with historic properties. If you're looking for a hotel-like experience, our place isn't for you.

But if you want authentic Vermont charm with modern conveniences, we hit the sweet spot. Our solar Powerwall means you'll never notice power outages. Our Wolf appliances and gourmet kitchen setup mean you can actually cook those Vermont-sourced meals you've been planning. And our two full baths (one on each level) mean morning routines stay civilized even with a full house.

Sleeping arrangements:

  • Main level king bedroom with outdoor sitting area access
  • Upstairs queen bedroom
  • Upstairs king bedroom
  • Children's bunk room with additional twin beds
  • Two full bathrooms

Our entertainment options feel thoughtfully chosen rather than randomly added: foosball, ping pong, darts, plus board games and books for when Vermont weather keeps you inside.

What Makes Our Farm Your Vermont Choice

You know what we love most about sharing Meadow's End Farm? We deliver the Vermont experience without the pretense. We genuinely care about our property - it's our dream home that we're sharing, not an investment property managed by a company.

Our guest reviews tell the story: visitors consistently mention the peaceful setting, our well-equipped kitchen, our beautiful grounds, and how their dogs loved the space. Rebecca from New York noted the perfect balance of "old Vermont farmhouse charm" with modern conveniences like our ice-maker. Elizabeth from Cambridge called it "absolutely the quintessential Vermont farmhouse experience" during peak foliage season.

Melanie's house is beautiful! It has old Vermont farmhouse charm, but still has things like an ice-maker in the fridge 🙂 The screened in porch is amazing, and the grounds are just lovely and peaceful. The home itself was comfy and we had plenty of space to spread out. We would definitely return!

There are no words to describe this incredible place--it was a truly beautiful and magical retreat. Both the interior and exterior were beyond stunning. Also, logistically, Melanie was so responsive and helpful, and it was one of the best-stocked Airbnbs I've been in. Highest recommendation!

We had a great time at the Farmhouse! The house was very spacious and very well equipped to meet all our needs. We loved the property, very private on 11 acres, which our dogs loved as well!! Melanie was a great host, very responsive and friendly. We enjoyed a hike with our pups on Butternut Hill trail which was nearby. The Farmhouse is centrally located to the towns we like to visit. We had a great dinner at SoLo Farm & Table, I highly recommend the restaurant. Hope to return soon!

This place is absolutely the quintessential Vermont farmhouse experience. We stayed in the peak of leaf season and it was spectacular. Views from every window were amazing. The screened in porch was a slice of heaven. The place is spacious and comfortable, the foosball table is great fun, the kitchen has everything you need. The house is situated on a hill, surrounded by nature's beauty - so picturesque. We couldn't have asked for more!

Our party was 5 adults and 1 dog; the layout of this house was perfect for us, allowing everyone to either be together in one room (for dinner, watching TV, playing games) or have their own "space." We loved grilling and gathering around the fire pit every evening -- really appreciated the well-stocked kitchen and all the nice dry wood that Melanie provided. And our dog loved romping through the extensive lawn! Chester itself is a pretty little town, and is within striking distance of other pretty towns like Grafton, Woodstock, and Manchester. It's a great place to stay whether you want to just relax with a good book and lovely surroundings, or explore the beautiful countryside.

We enjoyed our stay at the VT home. It was great for a multi-generation family. The game room was a big hit for our grandson and helped out on a rainy day!
Melanie was wonderful, always answering all our questions and giving us so much information on the area and what to do.
We have stayed at many Airbnb's but her home was the best stocked kitchen we've come across. The only thing missing was a blender for our margarita night LOL. The only negative thing we would mention is that the house wouldn't be conducive for elderly folks. The floors are very uneven due to the age of a beautiful old farmhouse. We had a true VT experience staying there. Love the little town of Chester too.

We had a great stay - and would definitely stay again! Beautiful location, spacious house, very well-equipped! Maple syrup, cooking oils, coffee, paper products, toiletries were all really nice touches. Melanie is an excellent host - very communicative!

I cannot say enough about how much our 2 families (4 adults, 4 kids, ages 7-3 years old) enjoyed the home. The property was beautiful and fun to explore. We hiked during the day & one evening took a sunset hike. We enjoyed sledding. The kids really enjoyed all the games available. There are more than enough sleds & snowshoes for everyone. Bathrooms were great, mattresses were very comfortable. It’s also a great location. On top of that, Melanie went out of her way to accommodate us. It left us all feeling relaxed & recharged. We can’t wait to return.
